Manhattan Beach Youth Council

Manhattan Beach Youth Council

Special announcements:

First, with the city of Manhattan Beach still closed due to the safety of the public during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we are pushing back our application process until Monday, May 18th. We are currently still deciding how we will conduct our interviews for the incoming class. This will partly depend on how quickly this virus is contained.

Second, it is with great pleasure and much excitement that we announce a program change. “Manhattan Beach Mayor’s Youth Council” will no longer be a city-sponsored program. Starting with the Class of 2020-21 we will be within the MBX umbrella of successful youth programs. Our new name will be “Manhattan Beach Youth Council”. Our transition will allow MB Youth Council to continue to grow our program with MBX’s partnership, while continuing to bring the same dynamic speakers to our monthly workshops to talk about a variety of careers and professions. Our goal is to continue to inspire students to pursue their interests as they consider their futures. Our program will continue to stay competitive so please make sure you fill out your application on May 18th to ensure you will be interviewed and considered for this highly sought after program.

Please contact Laurie James at [email protected], Laurel Wright at [email protected] or Kathy Winterhalder at [email protected] with further questions.

On behalf of all volunteers at MBYC, we wish you and yours wellness and safety.

The Manhattan Beach Youth Council Mission:

  • Engage students with leaders in private, public and philanthropic career arenas;
  • Share the wisdom, ways and diversity of leadership;
  • Stimulate and feed curiosity and creativity; and
  • Cultivate interest in civic stewardship.
