Manhattan Beach Youth Council

Manhattan Beach Youth Council

Thank you for your interest in Manhattan Beach Youth Council. We have reached our capacity and applications are currently closed for the incoming class of 2021-22. Please keep an eye out for an email from us regarding virtual interviews in the coming weeks. We plan on conducting them in the afternoon on Wednesday, April 21st and Saturday, April 24th. More details to come.

After wrapping up a successful year of virtual workshops, the goal for next year’s class is to host eight workshops on the first Wednesday of every month, starting in September through April. We plan to hold as many workshops in person as possible, but we will continue to follow county guidelines.

Starting in 2020 we began partnering with MBX as one of their many successful youth programs. Our new name is “Manhattan Beach Youth Council”. We continue to bring the same dynamic speakers to our workshops who talk about a variety of careers and professions in our ever changing world. Our goal is to inspire students to pursue their interests as they consider their futures. We accept high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors that either live or attend school in Manhattan Beach. This is a one year program. We look forward to meeting you!

Please contact any of our co-chairs, Phil Wah at [email protected], Betsey Keely at [email protected], Laurie James at [email protected], or Laurel Wright at [email protected] with further questions.

On behalf of all volunteers at MBYC, we wish you and yours continued wellness and safety during these challenging times.

The Manhattan Beach Youth Council Mission:

  • Engage students with leaders in private, public and philanthropic career arenas;
  • Share the wisdom, ways and diversity of leadership;
  • Stimulate and feed curiosity and creativity; and
  • Cultivate interest in civic stewardship.
