Ever thought about a career in information technology? How about in the rapidly
evolving and revolutionary field of Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI)?
Whether you’re fascinated by the power of AI like ChatGPT, wondering what it’s like to
work for titans such as Microsoft or IBM, or interested to hear how small start-up tech
companies can become the next Netflix — this session is for you.
You’ll hear directly from two seasoned professionals who’ve built exciting careers in
technology:
Mark Maruyama is a technology executive with over 30 years in the industry. His career
includes a start at IBM, a roller coaster ride in a tech startup during the “dotcom boom”,
and a leadership role building and selling an IT services company that worked alongside
Microsoft to service companies like Lionsgate, Coca-Cola, and In-N-Out burgers.
Carnelian Horsey is a Microsoft Azure Data & AI Specialist. After nearly 15 years in the
tech sales industry, she’s spanned selling software, professional services, recruiting top
level technology talent for companies nationwide, and now helping customers build
custom solutions activating the power of AI in their environments. She’s worked with
well known companies like Disney, Zumiez, NBC, City National Bank, Discount Tire,
and PING Golf.

Together, they’ll share their career journeys, lessons learned, and insights into the world
of technology—from the early days of the internet to today’s AI-powered breakthroughs.
You’ll get a clear understanding of what careers in tech look like, what skills are in
demand, and how data and AI are changing the world around us and shaping the future.
But this isn’t just a talk – it’s an experience. You’ll take part in an exciting hands-on
challenge where you’ll use AI tools to solve a real problem. So bring your questions,
your curiosity, and your imagination. The future of tech is waiting – and it might just start
with you.
